CALCIUM
Calcium is the most essential mineral in our bodies; it is required for every vital function. The list of biological roles where calcium plays an indispensable part is practically endless and includes:

. building strong bones, teeth, and cartilage
. maintaining cell membrane permeability
. healthy gums and skin
. blood clotting
. transmission of nerve impulses
. helping to lower cholesterol levels
. secretion of hormones
. activating enzymes (such as lipase, which breaks down fats)
. reducing the risk of colorectal cancer
. diminishing PMS symptoms.

As if all this weren't enough, calcium also inhibits the absorption of lead and other toxic metals, thereby stopping such toxins from being deposited in our bones and teeth.

In an attempt to balance pH levels, our bodies use calcium to neutralize the acid produced from the cooked and processed foods we eat. This means that if you aren't getting enough calcium in your diet, your body will take it from all other body fluids. Once your body fluids are depleted of calcium, your body will steal it from your bones. We all know where that leads, conditions such as osteoporosis and bone spurs.

Other problems associated with a calcium deficiency include aching joints, diabetes, muscle cramps, rheumatoid/osteo arthritis, arm and/or leg numbness, brittle nails, a pasty looking complexion, cognitive impairment, heart palpitations, rickets, elevated blood cholesterol, depression, mood swings associated with the menstrual cycle, tooth decay, hypertension and stroke, eczema, insomnia, obesity, colon cancer, and an increase of toxic metals absorbed in bones and teeth.

Our bodies cannot manufacture calcium. We must have daily supplementation. How much we need to supplement depends on many factors such as sex, age, physiological conditions, and even geographic location. In general, adolescents, pregnant women, and older people have the greatest need. Too often, adolescents consume a poor diet that includes soda instead of milk or other beverages that are far healthier. Pregnant women are, of course, providing nutrition for a developing fetus. As we age, intestinal absorption of dietary calcium decreases. Geographic locations influence the types of food consumed, western diets tend to rely more on acid-producing foods and less on raw, whole foods that promote alkalinity and a balanced pH. What's more, many studies have shown conclusively that persons who consume calcium in greater quantities early in life have greater bone mass later on, thus reducing their risk for calcium-deficient diseases.

Calcium-rich foods include milk, yogurt, cheese, collard greens, Chinese cabbage, mustard greens, broccoli, tofu, salmon, sardines (with bones), oysters, almonds, and lime-treated corn tortillas. Foods such as spinach, rhubarb, and wheat bran can decrease calcium absorption. Other factors contributing to poor calcium absorption include a high caffeine intake, sedentary lifestyle, alcohol abuse, and cigarette smoking. In summary, calcium supplementation is critical to sustain vital body functions, to maintain a proper pH balance, and to prevent numerous diseases. .

CALIFORNIA NETTLE
The California Nettle is a very powerful herb with a wonderful medicinal history. The nettle is by far one of the best diuretics from nature's pharmacy. It has been used historically by Native Americans to relieve allergies, flush toxins out of the kidneys and bladder, and rid the body of trapped toxic waters. Nettle support for hair, skin, and nail growth.

CARBOHYDRASE
Carbohydrase helps to digest carbohydrate substances, such as flour and sugar products. If you are sensitive to wheat or suffer from gluten intolerance, you'll fall in love with what Carbohydrase will do for you. This plant source enzyme has even been shown to reduce gluten related toxicity.

CELLULASE
Cellulase is that enzyme your body doesn't make. There's only a couple of ways to get this vitally important enzyme - from fresh, raw food or a supplement. If you eat fruits or vegetables for their health value, you won't get much value if Cellulase isn't present in your diet.

CHOLINE
Choline is an essential nutrient that is necessary for the structure and function of all cells and is crucial for sustaining life. It functions as a precursor for the biosynthesis of neurotransmitters and acts as a methyl donor. Neurotransmitters provide protection for the sheaths that surround the brain, spine, and thousands of miles of nerves. Acetylcholine (one of the neurotransmitters) is believed to be protective against certain types of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. Methyl donors convert homocysteine into methionine, an essential amino acid. Choline also helps to reduce high cholesterol levels by breaking down fats and holding them in suspension, thereby preventing them from sticking to blood platelets or arterial walls. Choline is known to be critical for liver function - even a few weeks of a choline deficient diet causes abnormalities.

Inadequate supplies of choline impair the ability of nerve cells to transmit messages to other cells across synapses, which causes cell damage. Choline levels in brain cell membranes decline with age, mainly due to our increasing difficulty to absorb nutrients as we get older. For women, homocysteine levels rise around the time of menopause, making supplementation with choline an essential part of daily nutritional support. A poor diet and smoking can disrupt the methylation process, causing an accumulation of homocysteine in the bloodstream. In addition, the cancer drug methotrexate diminishes pools of choline metabolites.

Dietary sources of choline include beef liver, egg yolks, and soy foods. It can be very difficult, however, to eat enough of these foods to provide the body with sufficient methyl groups and the appropriate neurotransmitter precursors. Daily supplementation is highly recommended for this vital nutrient.

CHROMIUM POLYNICOTINATE
Common food sources for this valuable element are: brewer's yeast, chili peppers (fresh), corn meal (whole), calve's liver, whole wheat, and goat milk (whole). A typical American diet will not provide us the sufficient, critical amounts of this rich nutrient; therefore, supplementation becomes a necessity. Chromium has proven to be very beneficial in bringing balance to the pancreas and binding insulin to the cell membrane receptor sites. Chromium polynicotinate is great assistance for those who don't tolerate sugars very well.

CLA  (CONJUGATED LINOLEIC ACID)
Conjugated Linoleic Acid helps to inhibit the body's mechanism for storing fat and promotes the body's utilization of fat reserves for energy. CLA has been shown by researchers at the University of Wisconsin to help with repartitioning; a process of moving calories toward muscle and away from fat.

COLOSTRUM (BOVINE)
Colostrum is the first milking by a mother mammal given to her offspring. Colostrum is packed with immune factors, including PRP or Proline-rich Polypeptide. Studies have shown some encouraging results in the fight against heart disease and PRP. Colostrum also helps promote healthy tissues and can help to rebuild damaged muscle tissue. Bovine colostrum is used because it contains many of the same immuno factors as human colostrum. This colostrum is made from North American bovine, and therefore develop the same immunities as those people residing in North America. Pure Colostrum also contains essential fatty acids and Vitamin E, which are missing from de-fatted Colostrum products.
